Ham and bacon pea soup – first dish according to the Swedish cuisine recipe. As with any Swedish cuisine, the ham pea soup is not only delicious but also extremely satisfying. Smoked bacon is best for a rich flavor.

Recipe Ingredients

Dry Peas 500 g
Onion 1 pcs
Garlic 1 clove
Ham 125 g
Bacon 125 g
Dried Parsley 1 pinch
Dried Thyme 1 pinch
Bay Leaf 1-2 pcs
Broth 2 l
Butter 20 g

Cooking Recipe

For ham and bacon pea soup, soak the peas overnight. Melt butter in a frying pan, add chopped garlic, then finely chopped onion and bacon. Fry over low heat until the onions are light golden brown.

Pour soaked peas into boiling broth. Bring the peas to a boil and skim off any foam that forms.

Then add all the herbs, fried bacon and onions and season with salt. Cover and cook until the peas are cooked through.

After the peas are cooked, add the chopped ham.

Before serving, Swedish pea soup sprinkle with ground pepper.
