Nougat – a confection of Italian cuisine, although the French dispute this fact. Nougat is made from walnuts, also from almonds, but not from peanuts. In addition to nuts, you can add candied fruit, vanilla, lemon zest, chocolate, etc. to nougat.

Recipe Ingredients

Honey 130 g
Sugar 400 g
Walnut 300 g
Water 50 ml
Egg White 2 pcs

Cooking Recipe

For such a wonderful recipe as nougat, first of all, you need to make syrup. Mix honey with sugar, pour in water, mix and put on a slow fire. Bring the syrup to a boil and cook for about 10 more minutes, stirring constantly.

To check the readiness of the syrup, it must be dropped into cold water - the drop should sink to the bottom with a frozen ball, but remain soft. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with a pinch of salt to stiff peaks. Continuing to beat the whites, pour hot syrup into them in a thin stream.

Beat the nougat until the mixer blades begin to stick. Then add nuts and mix. Line a shallow form with foil, grease with vegetable oil, put nougat into it, approximately 1 cm thick, smooth and refrigerate for 1 hour.

After the nougat has hardened, take it out of the mold, remove the foil and cut into small squares.
