Cooking Recipe
For the baltic herring with anchovies recipe, first of all, you need to prepare the fish. For anchovies, remove the head, spinal bone and put in a deep bowl. Sprinkle with a mixture of salt and ground white pepper in the amount of 0.5 tsp. and pour 100 ml of water. Set the anchovies aside to marinate (not refrigerate).
In the meantime, while the anchovies are marinating, prepare the baltic herring. In baltic herring, as well as in anchovies, remove the spinal bone, having previously cut off the head.
Cut the onion into thin rings and lightly fry in butter. Grease a baking dish with oil and lay out the fried onions in an even layer.
Put the prepared baltic herring fillet on a cutting board with the pulp up, put the marinated anchovy fillet on top and roll up, starting from the tail. Put the prepared rolls on the onion, pour over the marinade from under the anchovies and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
Place a small piece of butter on each roll and place in a preheated 220°C (430°F) oven. Bake anchovy herring for 20 minutes. Swedish herring appetizer with anchovies served hot.
