Mackerel fried with spices (Saba tatsuta-age) – a Japanese recipe, mackerel pieces are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Saba tatsuba-age is served with chilled light beer.
After the time has elapsed, remove the fish from the marinade, pat dry with paper towels and roll in cornmeal. Pour a large amount of oil into a deep frying pan and heat. Deep-fry the fish until golden brown, pat dry on paper towels and serve immediately. When serving saba tatsuta-age you can garnish with a slice of lemon or lime and finely chopped leaves basilica.
