Varenyky with potatoes is a Ukrainian cuisine recipe. In Ukraine, the filling for varenyky is prepared from fruits, berries, cabbage, potatoes, mushrooms, etc. Sometimes the filling for varenyky is combined - for example, with cabbage and potatoes, potatoes and mushrooms.

Recipe Ingredients

For Dough
Wheat Flour 700 g
Water 250 ml
Chicken Eggs 2 pcs
Salt 1 tsp
For Filling
Potatoes 500-700 g
Onion 1 pcs
Vegetable Oil 3 tbsp

Cooking Recipe

For the vareniki with potatoes recipe, knead a stiff dough using flour, water, eggs and salt. Cover the dough with a towel and set aside for 15 minutes. To cook the stuffing from potatoes, cook mashed potatoes.

Finely chop the onion and fry until golden brown in vegetable oil. Mix onion with mashed potatoes, salt and pepper. Roll out the prepared dough into a layer of 5 mm, cut out circles approximately 5-7 cm in diameter. Put the filling in the middle of each circle, bend the dough in half and pinch the edges.

Pour dumplings prepared in this way into salted boiling water and boil until the dough is ready. Vareniki with potatoes served hot, with cracklings and fried onions, or with sour cream.
