For the potato casserole with sauerkraut recipe, lightly squeeze the sauerkraut and simmer until soft in a pan without adding oil. Finely chop the onion and fry in melted bacon until golden brown. Put the fried onion into the cabbage, add salt, pepper and mix.
Peel potatoes, boil and mash. Add 3 eggs, flour, sour cream to mashed potatoes and mix. Sprinkle the greased baking dish evenly with flour, lay out half the mashed potatoes and level.
Spread the cabbage in an even layer on top of the puree and cover with the remaining puree. Brush with a lightly beaten egg and bake at 180°C (355°F) for 30 minutes until golden brown. After potato casserole with sauerkraut are baked, cut into portions and serve with sour cream.
