Ukrainian lecho – a Ukrainian cuisine recipe, the famous Hungarian recipe is prepared in many countries, and each in its own way. This is the kind of lecho they cook in Ukraine. The lecho turns out to be very tasty, with a rich thick sauce. This recipe lecho has a balanced ratio of sauce and bell pepper. You can store lecho as in the refrigerator, covered with a plastic lid or rolled up with a tin lid and stored in the pantry.

Recipe Ingredients

Tomatoes 3 kg
Bell Pepper 30 pcs
Onion 6 pcs
Bay Leaf 1 pcs
Sugar 1 cup
Salt 2 tbsp

Cooking Recipe

To cook a Ukrainian cuisine recipe bell pepper lecho, peel the onion and cut into thick slices.

Wash bell peppers, cut lengthwise into 4 parts, remove seeds and partitions.

Chop the tomatoes in a mincer and simmer over medium heat.

After 2.5-3 hours add vegetable oil, sugar, salt and bay leaf. Boil for another 15-20 minutes.

Add chopped peppers and onions to the tomato, stir and cook for another 15 minutes.

Transfer the finished lecho to jars and sterilize. For 0.5 liter jars, sterilize 10-15 minutes, and for 1 liter jars – 20 minutes. Then carefully remove and seal with tin lids. Turn over, cover with a thick blanket and let cool well, and then transfer lecho to dry storage.
