Carols with mushrooms – in Russia, either buns or cheesecakes are prepared for the Christmas table. They also meet those who come to carol. IIn Ukraine and Belarus, this dish is called carols – from the word caroling. Wickets are prepared mainly not sweet, the filling can be made from porridge or vegetables. Wickets are prepared from rye flour, but you can replace it with wheat or mix one to one rye and wheat.

To cook mushroom carols recipe, warm the whey slightly. Knead the dough from flour, whey and salt, cover it with a towel and set aside to rest for 30 minutes.
During this time, prepare the filling for the carols. Wash, peel and cut mushrooms. Put caraway seeds in a preheated dry pan and warm for 1 minute. Next, put the mushrooms and simmer until all the liquid has evaporated. After pouring vegetable oil, finely chopped onions, mix and fry until golden brown. Add sour cream to the fried mushrooms, salt, pepper and simmer for another 20 minutes.
Divide the rested dough into 16 pieces and roll them into balls. Roll each ball into a thin cake, round or oval. Put the filling in the middle of the cake and wrap the edges by pinching them around the entire perimeter. The filling in the gates should be clearly visible, like in cheesecakes.
Put prepared carols on a baking sheet sprinkled with flour and put in an oven preheated to 180-200°C (356-390°F). Bake carols for 30 minutes, then grease with melted butter and continue to bake for another 3-5 minutes. So that the carols do not stale for a long time, it is best to store them in a plastic bag.
