Pie with onions and bell peppers – who said that pies must be sweet? In Italy, a lot of pies with unsweetened filling are prepared and meat is not necessarily present there, the pie can be vegetable. These pies are served warm as a main course. Use red and yellow peppers to make the cake colorful.

The recipe for onion and bell pepper pie is very simple. Sift flour with a slide onto a cutting board. Make a well and add the chopped butter. Pour in a couple of tablespoons of cold water, salt and quickly knead the dough. Wrap the dough in polyethylene and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Now you can start filling. Peel the onion and cut into rings. Heat oil in a frying pan, put onion and sauté over medium heat. Transfer the finished onion to a sieve and drain off the excess oil.

Remove seeds from bell peppers and cut into strips. Just like the onions, fry in oil and transfer to a sieve in the same way to remove excess oil.

In the meantime, the dough has rested in the refrigerator and you can continue working with it. Grease a baking dish with olive oil. Roll out the dough into a layer of 3 mm, in diameter slightly larger than the shape, so that the sides can be formed. Place the dough on the bottom of the mold. It is enough that the sides are 1.5-2 cm. Chop the dough with a fork.

In a separate bowl, beat eggs with milk, salt and pepper. Add onion, pepper and stir.

Put the filling on top of the dough and place pie in an oven preheated to 200°C (390°F). Bake the cake for 30 minutes, until the dough is golden brown. Then cut and serve warm.
