Salo in onion peel, salo is a unique product from which you can cook a wide variety of snacks. For example, bacon boiled in onion skins. Salo for this recipe is best taken with a meat layer.

Recipe Ingredients

Pork Belly 1.5 kg
Onion Peel 20 g
Salt 200 g
Water 1.2 l
Black Pepper 4-5 pcs
Bay Leaf 3-4 pcs
For Rubbing
Garlic 1 head
Bay Leaf 3-4 pcs

Cooking Recipe

The recipe for lard in onion peel is very simple. Remove the husk from the onion, rinse well and dry.

Put half of the onion peel on the bottom of the pan, put lard on top, add salt, add black pepper and bay leaf. Cover with the remaining half of the onion peel, pour water and put on fire. When the water boils, reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 20 minutes.

After the time has elapsed, remove the pan from the heat and let cool for 12-24 hours.

After the specified time, prepare spices for rubbing sala. You can use just black, but it will be tastier to use a mixture of peppers. Grind the pepper in a mortar with bay leaf, grate the garlic on a fine grater and mix everything.

Grease the cooled fat on all sides with the prepared mixture, wrap in foil and put in the freezer. Before serving, 10-15 minutes before serving, remove salo, cut thinly and serve.
