Shekerpare Cake is a recipe for a Turkish sweet that is often prepared for holidays. The cakes are very easy to prepare, you don’t need to knead the dough for a long time, just enough to combine all the ingredients. The cake turns out tender, crumbly and at the same time not dry, as it is soaked in aromatic lemon syrup.

Recipe Ingredients

Wheat Flour 500 g
Butter 180 g
Eggs 1 pcs
Semolina 1 tbsp
Milk 2 tbsp
For the syrup
Sugar 1 cup
Water 1 cup
Lemon 0,5 pcs
For decoration

Cooking Recipe

The recipe for Shekerpare cake is very simple. Pour semolina and milk into a bowl, mix everything well until the consistency of porridge. Add softened butter and egg to the porridge, mix everything. Add salt, baking powder, vanilla and flour. Quickly knead the dough, form a ball out of it, cover with film and put in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Divide the dough into small pieces and form cone-shaped balls. Cover the baking sheet with parchment, place the prepared cakes on it and grease with yolk. Bake the cakes in an oven preheated to 180°C (355°F) for 15 minutes until golden brown.

While the cakes are cooking and cooling, prepare the syrup. Mix sugar with water and put on medium heat. Cut the lemon into slices and add to the sugar and water. As soon as the syrup boils and the sugar is completely dissolved, cook for another 2 minutes, then remove until completely cooled. The syrup can be prepared in advance.

Place the cooled cakes in a flat bowl or mold and pour the cooled syrup over them. When the Shekerpare cakes have completely absorbed the syrup, place them on a plate and garnish with chopped pistachios.
