Almond Christmas cookies (Mandelspekulatius) – a German pastries recipe, you can make a hole in the cookies, pass a ribbon and decorate the Christmas tree.

Recipe Ingredients

Wheat Flour 550-600 g
Sugar 200 g
Butter 200 g
Eggs 2 pcs
Ground Cloves 2 pinches
Ground Cardamom 2 pinches
Almonds 100 g

Cooking Recipe

To make a recipe for almond Christmas cookies, sift the flour and mix it with baking powder, vanilla sugar, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves.

Beat eggs with sugar.

Add the chopped butter to the flour and grind everything well into crumbs.

After pouring eggs beaten with sugar and knead elastic soft dough. If the dough does not combine in one lump, add a couple of tablespoons of cold water.

Wrap the prepared dough with a film and place in the refrigerator for a day.

Roll out the prepared dough into a layer 7-8 mm thick and cut out with the shape of an asterisk or Christmas tree.

Put the cut figures on a greased baking sheet, sprinkle with chopped peeled almonds and put in the oven. Bake almond cookies at 180°C (355°F) 15-20 minutes.
