For the tapos with onion and pepper recipe, wash the bell pepper, remove the seeds, partitions and cut into rings that are not too thin. Peel the onion and cut into rings. In a frying pan, sauté chopped vegetables in hot oil until soft.
In a separate bowl, mix lemon juice, ketchup, salt, pepper and add sugar. Mix everything well and add the stewed vegetables. Cover the marinated vegetables and refrigerate overnight.
Cut off the crust from slices of bread and fry them in vegetable oil until golden brown. Transfer the prepared bread to a baking dish. Put pickled vegetables on top of toasts and cover everything with slices of cheese.
Bake the prepared tapas in a preheated oven at 180°C (355°F) until the cheese starts to melt, about 6-8 minutes.
