Chocolate churros is the national dish of Spanish cuisine. The basis of churros is deep-fried choux pastry, sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon when serving. The shape of churros can vary widely, forming intricate curls. In order for the churros to turn out to be even sticks, the dough must be made a little thicker.

Recipe Ingredients

Wheat Flour 250 g
Eggs 3 pcs
Water 250 ml
Butter 125 g
Cocoa Powder 1 tbsp
Orange Peel 2 tbsp
Salt 1 tsp
Sugar 2 tbsp

Cooking Recipe

For the chocolate churros recipe, melt the butter in hot water, then add salt, sugar, grated orange zest, mix and bring to a boil.

Mix flour with cocoa powder, vanilla and sift. Gradually add flour to the water with melted butter, mix quickly, and, without ceasing to stir, warm over medium heat for 1 minute.

Remove the dough from the heat, let it cool slightly, and then beat in one egg at a time and mix everything well until smooth. Put the dough into a pastry bag or a syringe with a wide nozzle in the form of an asterisk.

Squeeze out the dough about 10 cm into the heated oil. Fry the churros on all sides, then put it on a paper towel with a slotted spoon and let the oil drain. When chocolate churros have cooled, put them on a plate, sprinkle with powdered sugar mixed with cinnamon, and you can serve.
